This better be temporary.

Sometime this afternoon, I stopped being able to connect to the internet through Firefox. Damn IT bastards. I could still get through on IE. I fuckin' hate IE.

What's worse is I'm significantly less busy these days, so I need a little internet fix. How am I supposed to browse without tabs?!

WTFF? Why would they block it?

I hear IE7 has tabs, but I've never used it. I still hate IE.

yes, IE7 has tabs. My work has a firewall so I can't download Firefox even though I try whenever my work temporarily blocks Gmail Chat.

I'm actually considering not trying for jobs at Target Corp because I know they block all non- work related email/chat usage. I have an addiction!

Yeah, the firewall is currently such that I've downloaded Firefox and Thunderbird and had to install them in an odd directory, but I can't uninstall them. Not Thunderbird, anyway. Haven't tried with Firefox.

That's great that IE 7 has tabs, but it's still IE....

I heard that a bit of a crackdown was in the works, but I thought it was just about accessing certain sites, not being completely unable to use another web browser. Stupid IT. I was given the hint (by IT) that you could bypass the proxy server, but I haven't quite figured out how to do that yet.

I can never work for Target.

Hey, what was blocked at General Mills?

Another tip, Wells Fargo blocks most web based email (yahoo, hotmail) but my U of MN email wasn't blocked. Gmail didn't exist then.

During my interview for Target she asked me how comfortable I was using the internet and how I would rank myself on "navigating between internet browsers/screens". I answered, "Expert". Isn't that a weird question?

The General didn't block anything that I can think of. Hell, people were running Napster for a while. That five years ago, though. (Wow, has it been that long?) Actually, that's not true. Towards the end I had to jump through some hoops to get into my Yahoo mail. I'm guessing they've probably cracked down some more since then.

That sounds like a trick question. Expert. Heh.
