Self-Props
Yours truly was thrice-nominated for Employee of the Quarter (twice for Q2 and once for Q3).
And I won! For Q2. Somebody else won for Q3.
My boss nominated me, one of the project managers nominated me, and I'm not sure who the third person was.
A couple people asked me if I was surprised. I'm probably supposed to be all humble and whatnot. But... let me put it this way: I had hoped I would be nominated. Winning was icing on the cake.
We had our quarterly company meeting at the local movie theater. You see those ads about renting the theater when you go to movies, and you wonder who actually does that. We've done that twice now.
Every member of the senior leadership got up and gave their shpiel. My boss, god love him, he's such an engineer. He's got schematics of the upcoming facility expansion in his slides and is talking about air handling units.
I was all decked out in my Michigan gear on account of the U-M/OSU game tomorrow (RIP, Bo) and ended up standing up in front of the whole company wearing it.
All this was followed by a Q & A session in which no one asked what they really wanted to ask about which was the fact that a bunch of folks got laid off last week, and then by an unintentionally hilarious propaganda marketing video. Good times.
So I've got a certificate up in my cube. (There is nothing glamorous about hanging anything in your cube.) And I got a visa gift card. I'm sorely tempted to blow it at IKEA. I've had my eye on some things. But it'll probably all go towards food and gas. While I take the cash I would have spent on food and gas and blow it at IKEA.
Yeah, I'm pretty damn proud of myself.

I got a lamp, a tv stand, some curtains, a tealight holder that matches a couple I bought before, and 100 tealights. Didn't go too crazy.
I had a vision for my living room that still mostly hinges on buying a new couch which I'm not ready to do, but I know roughly what furniture I want where.
The tv stand is small (might be too small), but I want to get rid of the giant entertainment center I have. My tv's not big enough for it and I'm not interested in getting a new tv.

Saturday's game was heart wrentching. I've seen Michigan play so much better!!
I think you should get employee of the DECADE, but I'm just glad you were recognized at all. Congratulations and yay for everyone knowing how great you are!
Say what?! You are a supastar irk! Gotta lurv the corporate "incentives". It sounds like you've been working your tail off and in a less than optimal situation. I'm happy for you but not surprised at all. Just glad the "suits" could see what you were bringing to the table! Have fun in space-needle-ville!
