Too bad I don't really have a whole lot to do right now.

I'm still going back and forth on this 43 Folders and Getting Things Done stuff. I sort of feel like with my new job coming up (hopefully) where I have to go back to being an office drone, that I will need some sort of organizational system (other than piles) to keep my shit together.

Of course, I can totally spend forever on the process and getting organized and not actually doing anything. And there's really quite a bit to the GTD thing if you want to get into it all.

But one tool that looks really appealing to a procrastinator with a short attention span such as myself is the dash. It's "a short burst of focused activity during which you force yourself to do nothing but work on the procrastinated item for a very short period of time—perhaps as little as just one minute." Similarly, the idea of timeboxing looks sensible and doable, too. It's basically setting a limited period of time (on the scale of an hour or two) to work on a task.

I've been looking around for something to do. I did process my inbox today. My actual paper inbox, aka, a pile of stuff. I feel so efficient.

i'm kind of a dork about this stuff (productivity enhancers, etc) the truth of it is, just work what works for you, i too use the "pile" system but i know how to work it. Another great resource is lifehacker.com it has all kinds of techy stuff you'll love i and i love the fact that the editor is a female geek (Gina T.) It is very navigable and works with my short attention span. i'm also in love with www.43things.com

be well!

I was totally into Lifehacker for a while, but when it got to the point where I had 60 or 70 posts marked for keeping in my Bloglines, as if I were going to get back to them eventually, I thought I was kind of missing the point, so I had to cut it from the blogroll. I might be tempted to put it back in on a trial basis, though.
