Sounds Good in Theory
KathyHowe posted this over at Kathzoofus a while back. I bookmarked it and I keep referring back to it.
"Be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet. Make all your friends feel there is something special in them. Look on the sunny side of everything. Think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best. Be as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. Give everyone you meet a smile. Spend so much time improving yourself that you have no time left to criticize others. Be too big for worry and to noble for anger."I find myself barely able talk the talk, much less walk the walk.
~Christian D. Larsen (also recognized as The Optimist Creed)

Ever since I read that I have been specifically working on this:
Give everyone you meet a smile.
I try to remember to greet the people at the coffee shop, the security guard at the office, the parking ramp attendent, everyone, everyone, EVERYONE with a smile and a friendly hello. Somedays that is DAMN HARD TO DO but I try to step outside the shit in my head, the crap that I might be dealing with in my own day and extend a little sunshine to someone else. I have to confess, it feels ODDLY good to do it. It's REMEMBERING to do it that is hard.
Wow...great saying...hard to do daily, though. Some people are just plain a$$ holes.
Are you still feeling sad?
wow. this totally made my day. and i'm going to steal it and put it on my blog too b/c you cannot have too much positivity and optimism. Irk you are so cool I hope our paths cross one day. Oh and you should definitely do a Green Tortoise trip! I think I'm doing Pyramids and Playas next April!
KathyHowe: That does sound hard. But I can see how it would pay off. In fact as I was running today I passed a guy on the trail and not only did he smile, but he nodded his head and did a little finger wave. And he was younger. If anybody's friendly while running, it's usually older folks. And it's hard to be friendly when you're doggin' it. But he totally put a little pep in my step.
Nat: Less sad today. More blah and enh. Although it is a very nice day out today.
Dia: Aww, shucks. :)
