And then a lease was signed.

Actually, not so much the lease yet, but a rental agreement. I'm not sure why the intermediate step, but whatever.

Last we saw our heroine, she had just declined to sign a lease for which her application had been accepted.

And I cannot continue to tell this story in the third person.

Yeah, so what's actually going on is...

Fly Girl and I are moving in together.

!!!

Now, it's a fine distinction to be made, but to be clear, we are "moving in together," not "Moving In Together." The arrangement is more than mere convenience, but we ain't gettin' married or nothin'. We both were thinking, since I was going to be moving to my own place anyway, that the amount of time together and sharing of space and stuff would certainly increase gradually. But it so happens that she also needs to move ASAP. So together it is.

We looked at one last place Friday night and it was perfect, so we put down a rental deposit that is not the security deposit, but will be applied towards our rent if our applications are accepted. Again, not sure why the intermediate step, but whatever.

We've gone back and forth on some things and have worked out some terms and expectations. I wasn't so sure about it at first, but I'm totally excited about it now. The apartment itself is great. The location — Uptown, right behind Rainbow Foods and right off the Greenway, halfway between Lake/Hennepin and Lake/Lyndale, if that means anything to anyone — is fantastic. I'm saving a heckuva lot of money on a monthly basis, which certainly doesn't hurt. And I'll get to see my girl more than one day a week! Further description, pictures, and whatnot will be forthcoming once we actually move in.

And as if it could be much better than that, we have secured a subletter for the place I'm about to move out of. So nobody has to pay extra rent and I got my deposit back.

So my stress level has come waaaaay down. Finding an apartment wasn't such a big deal, but finding a subletter was. And now it's all taken care of. *whew*

Yay! :)

Errrr... what's the Greenway, for us out-of-staters? Something that requires congratulations, I reckon!

The Greenway is a paved bike/walking path.

Hooray! I know the string of "interesting" living situations was kind of wearing on you. I hope this one is easy and magical and -- ah, hell. You're saving money. It'll be beautiful. Congratulations and good luck all around!

For real, yo. Fly Girl pointed out to me that I've been mentioning a friend of mine whom I used to live with quite a bit lately. This friend was my roommate for the first 2.5 years I lived in MN, before the quitting of the job and the mooching from the parents the start of the blogging and the moving back to MN. She was hands down the best roommate I've ever had. Our personal habits were very complementary. Our social circles overlapped enough, but not too much. We used to throw the best damn parties. We had just the right mix of togetherness and space. It was great.

I'm hoping the upcoming arrangement will allow me a similar mix of both peace and fun.

And did I mention I'm saving a shitload of money? Yeah.
