Long Run Sunday
The week in running was somewhat unremarkable. Week 1 of the 8-week program for the 10-miler. Which is not all that different from what I've been doing the last month or so. Ran in the rain on Wednesday and it was fantastic. 9:30 min/mile pace. Anything less than 10:20 or so is a big deal to me. Other than that, meh.
According to conventional low-heart-rate training wisdom, my max aerobic heart rate should be about 153. I never aim for a specific heart rate when I run. My monitor is set to go off when I hit 153, so I don't go much over that number. So I do stay down in an aerobic training range, but it's not all that consistent. I'm probably overthinking this based on my relative lack of training, but I'm wondering if I should just pick a number a little below 153 (probably 148 or so) and shoot for that. That will result in varying times, based on weather and stuff, but I knew that anyway. The idea being all my runs should be equally difficult, but I should gradually see improvement in my times.
Ran Summit Ave for my 6 miles today. As much as I love all the trails and lakes near my house and as much variety as they offer me, I'm starting to get a little bored with them, so it was nice to get in a change of scenery. And spectacular scenery it is on Summit Ave, with all those Victorian houses, the Cathedral of St. Paul, whatnot. I felt like I could have gone faster, but I had to remind myself that I'm supposed to go slow on Sundays. Had it been a 10k race it would have been different, but it wasn't.
Not gonna get that inhaler prescription filled until I get to the doc in another week and a half, and I think I'm only a few days away from running out. The puff felt a little weak today, but I got enough to work. I can tell immediately if I don't get enough. Instantaneous wheezing. I might skip a day or two this week and hope I at least have enough left for next Sunday's long run. Dancing at the Town House last night was my cross-training for Saturday. ;)

Summit Avenue absolutely ROCKS! What a great location to go running!
