Lynx Home Opener

I went to the Minnesota Lynx home opener tonight. Sunshine Sinatra got me a pair of tickets for my birthday. My friend Renae usually goes to these with me, but she was out of town, so Reanne very kindly stepped in and kept me company.

I was fully expecting the Lynx to get their asses kicked by the L.A Sparks. Not only did they not get their asses kicked, they won! Although they did their best to almost give it away at the end. There weren't a whole lot of people there (surprise). I chalk that up to it being a weeknight. But those that were there, or at least those sitting around us, were pretty into it. I love it when folks show up and enjoy the game.

Amber Jacobs looked pretty good. I enjoyed her minutes on the floor better than Kristi Harrower's. Katie Smith didn't look like she was doing much at all, but she led all scorers with 24 points. Nicole Ohlde was rock solid. In fact, most of the Lynx had some pretty good moments on the floor.

For L.A., Lisa Leslie was completely ineffective and I'm sure she'll be bitching about the refs. She should maybe think about less traveling and less fouling first. Chamique Holdsclaw didn't score a whole lot, but it looked like she was the only one keeping it together for a while.

P.S. There was a guy sitting in front of us (with the cutest baby girl) that had on a black baseball hat with a dogtag logo. One tag said DET and the other said 313. I asked him where he got it. He said he got it at a Foot Locker in Detroit. I couldn't find anything like it online. I must have this hat.

P.P.S. Pistons lost. Boo.

I missed the Storm's opener, but I scored tickets for Friday's game against Houston. Great seats, too! Gotta love the work connections. :)

The Detroit Shock looking like the real deal. 3 - 0! I'm going to their June 3rd home game versus the NY Liberty. I'll throw in some cheers for ya, Erica.

Not worried about the Pistons. If Wade thinks he's going to score 40 every game against the champs, then he is fooling himself. Pistons in five!

The American Idol finale was on last night, too. So was the last (two-hour) episode of Lost. We went to a movie and no one was at the theater. I imagine they were all glued to their TVs.

I weighed the cost of cable tv vs going to all the weekend Lynx home games and I think I'll be heading to the Target Center instead of sitting on the couch.

The is the best time of year for basketball. Pistons are in the playoffs and the W is just getting started.

Yay Lynx! I had to say it. I'm so happy they won. I wish I had the time and money to travel to Minnesota to watch basketball.

I'm going to have to settle for the Lynx/Sun game in June, alas.
