Monday already?

I know I'd be kidding myself to hope that a few days of 50° temperatures in February meant that spring was anywhere near in Minnesota. It was nice while it lasted, though. So I took it upon myself to be outside as much as possible over the weekend.

Friday night, Fly Girl and I went up to the roof of the St. Joseph's Hospital parking garage. Supposedly, the views of St. Paul are great. They're okay. You can see the Cathedral of St. Paul and the capitol and the river and the downtown skyline (such as it is). I suggested we go just because this time around I wouldn't be freezing my ass off like I was when we went up there on one of our first dates in November (before she, uh, took me home *ahem*).

Saturday morning I took a long walk around FG's neighborhood while she was out doing some other stuff. I hoofed it from Grand and Lexington(ish) down to Dale, then back up Grand to Hamline, then back to Lexington. The sun was out. The people were out. It was nice and refreshing. I stopped in a few stores and was excited to come across Northern Brewer, since MJ was just talking about brewing her own beer.

FG and Maestro and his wife picked me up off the street and we swung by a duplex they're looking at renting. Very neat space. Huge, and in the same neighborhood they're in now.

Then, in an effort to stay outside and enjoy the weather but in deference to FG's recovery from mono, we hopped in the car and drove around. She showed me some houses in South Minneapolis that she worked on as part of Habitat for Humanity, then drove up Minnehaha Parkway, eventually passing Lake Harriet and Lake Calhoun to arrive at my place. I went on a massive grocery shopping trip last week, so I cooked up some stuff before it went bad and made us some dinner while FG chilled on the couch and watched Mean Girls.

We had planned to go to a gymnastics meet, but we ended up going to a Twin Cities Women's Choir concert instead. And it was fantastic! They performed with two children's choirs: CitySongs and the FAIR School choir. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Then Sunday we had lunch with our mutual friend who set us up before I went to work.

I haven't had such a good weekend in a long time.
