Or Not
Okay, not so much with the propagation just yet. I hit the wall with the transferring process. Namely, I got halfway through all the backing up and realized that I don't need to export and re-import my entries. I should just be able to restore my mySQL database at the new host. But I'm not sure how that coordinates with installing MT. Do I just move my whole mt directory over, change the file pathways, and hope it works? I feel like there's something else to it, but I haven't had a whole lot of time to research it.
It's been an eventful weekend.
Spent Friday night with my Roomies & Co hanging out, attending a showing at an art gallery (where I randomly ran into a girl I knew from high school whom I never expected to see or hear from again) and playing Dance Dance Revolution (my new favorite thing!). There was some sort of thing on campus at the U, at Coffman Union, for all the underage kiddies to hang out and do stuff. We were there because that's where the DDR machine was. But we also got a 3-D picture taken and had some caricatures drawn. I think we all felt kind of old being there, but did I mention the DDR?
Saturday afternoon I went to see the "Fresh Feet" breakdancing B-Boy and B-Girl competition at the Midtown Y. That was awesome. Especially the little kids who are taking the B-Boy class at the Y right now. So cute.
Then I treated myself to a shopping spree. I had a list of things I wanted to get, and I was prepared to only buy one thing off the list. But I shopped around and got such great deals I got a few things. Namely, I got a bunch of shirts and a pair of fleece pants at Old Navy which were all on clearance for $4 each. So I needed shirts and I also needed brown shoes. Found a pair at Kohl's for $9 which I was excited about but then I went to put them on today and found that I had two different size shoes. Maybe that's why they were so cheap. I already threw that box away so I odn't know how easy it'll be to exchange or return them. But I found another pair of brown shoes I like at DSW which weren't all that cheap, but since I got so much bang for my buck at Old Navy I didn't feel badly about splurging. Still on the wish list: a wind- and water-resistant fleece jacket (warmer than my current fleece options, but not jacket-bulky) and a new swimsuit.
Saturday night I saw the burlesque show Le Cirque Rouge at the Loring Pasta Bar. They were a little short on acts, but it was a good show. I might not want to drop $10 on it very often, but I'd go again.
Sunday I did all that around the house stuff. Cleaning and laundry and whatnot. I couldn't even tell you what the "whatnot" was. I know I cleaned and did laundry for sure, though.
Busiest weekend I've had, from a social standpoint, in a long time.

Here's a link that tells how to
move your MT blog to a new host/server. I hope it helps.
Come on'a my house--we have DDR *and* several volumes of Karaoke Revolution. </geek>
YAY!! for busy and FUN weekends.
Carla, if you're linking to what I think you meant to link to (Elise's site), that's what I've been following, except that the detailed directions there are for exporting/re-importing entries and stuff into a fresh MT installation. It says you can alternatively restore the database, but it doesn't really say how. I know how to dump the db and get it over to the new host, but I don't quite get how that jives with the MT install.
Ooooh okay. My apologizes. You will have to re-install MT.
Oh yeah! ...step 10 in the link I provided tells to install MT on the new host/server.
I don't understand. My new host just transferred all my files and my database and viola. All was good in the world again.
I never had to reinstall MT, or import/export. And I've changed hosts like 5 times since I started blogging.
hey...congrats
Obviously, you got it figured out, so let me just say how much faster this site loads now. I love it!
