Cancellation
Long story short, my mom wouldn't commit to meeting FG, so mom got uninvited. We met up with my dad and sister today, and it was fine. Short and sweet. And over.

whew! short, sweet, and OVER... all family gatherings should be like that ;)
That sucks that your mom was like that. However, if you're happy with FG, that's the most important thing.
She just may need a little more time (your mom). Remember that film (the other sister)where the slow girl's mom said mothers, more than fathers are judged by how their children turn out? I think this is true. Plus parents want their kids to be happy and avoid hardship and heartache so she may just be processing. I could be full of crap, but the thing that stands out from your handling of this issue is that YOU love YOU. You are helping other young people who are struggling with the same issues and you have handled it admirably. Bravo and Happy New Year!
