Pocket Singed
UPDATE #2: I went to Chipotle anyway (on the condition that I walk to go get it instead of driving). I bought those domain names anyway (hey, namecheap is cheap). And I'm gonna get the shelves anyway because I really need them. I'm just deciding between a set from Target and a set from IKEA.
I figure if I wait until I have extra money for this stuff, I'll never get it.

Go for the Ikea shelves. They're ten bucks more, but so much better looking.
I'm clearly in the minority, but I'm just not feeling the IKEA shelves. I don't know what my issue is with them.
Then again, I tend to like sturdy and sturdy-looking furniture and such and maybe it's that the IKEA shelves look delicate -- like they'd tip over of collapse if you breathed to hard.
*shrug*
See, I was leaning toward the Target shelves, too. I just need to look at them both. I have a feeling I might end up with the Target shelves strictly out of convenience.
It's the price differential that's throwing me. That seems like either a whole lot for those Target shelves, or really cheap for the IKEA shelves.
IKEA - I've put together this unit for a friend and it looks great. They're sturdy but I can't remember if the shelves actually attached to the frame or if they just lay on top of it. If it's the latter, that's easy enough to fix with a couple of U-straps.
Target - a little less room overall, but the shelves are 3" deeper. Also not the prettiest to look at, very "garage-esque" and I'm not sure how sturdy they are. The low end of these type of shelves tend to be pretty flimsy. I wouldn't put too much weight on the top despite what the label says. Personally, despite being $10 more, I'd go with the IKEA shelves. It gives you a few more options in terms of repurposing the unit for a living room or whatever later on down the road. ::clink::
I liked the look of the Ikea shelves way better, but the Target ones *did* look a lot sturdier. If it were me? My house? I'd buy the Ikea. But I'm not always what you'd call "sensible".
I say go for IKEA. The Target ones are really industrial looking.
Ooh, I like that word "repurposing."
I'll hit both stores this week and see how I like them.
