I take it back.
Every optimistic thing I said about my job. I take it all back.
I was in a pretty good mood going in to work last night (as good as I could be, given that I was going to work), on account of my good weekend. And then I had a talk with my Production Manager.
When I talked to the Supervisor in the other department last week, he reminded me that both the hiring manager and my current manager have to agree on any transfer I might make. He then mentioned that he often has trouble getting people out of my department because the Production Manager doesn't like to let folks go because we're understaffed.
I wanted to let my manager know that I was going to apply for this position and ask him what kind of support (or not) I could expect from him. He said that we're understaffed and as of right now he can't let me go. He also said that several other people had already asked him about the same thing, and that maybe things might change once we switch to the new schedule (which will occur no earlier than April 1).
It was not at all a surprise to hear him say that, but I'm totally disappointed. I feel like he's just feeding me bullshit when he talks about what's good for my career with the company. I have so much more to give them, and all they care about is having a warm body standing next to this fucking machine.
It's my understanding that we are pretty much always understaffed. So I'm not feeling real good about the likelihood that he'll give anyone up any time soon. Especially since people are leaving the company all together when they get "stuck" in this department and find they have no mobility or prospects at all within the company (among a myriad of other issues).
That wasn't even the kicker. Before we even got to that discussion, he told me that someone told him that I had been drinking on the job.
?!?!?!?!
He wanted to know what happened and/or what I knew. He wouldn't say who brought it to his attention, he said to not bother trying to find out who it was, that there was no need for me to discuss this with anyone, and that Stupidvisor and Hey Mon didn't even need to know. He mentioned a date from two weeks ago, so I'm trying to figure out why this is just coming up now. And he says he's just investigating because that's his duty, but reminding me that this is grounds for termination.
?!?!?!?!
Then after all that I have Instigator being her usual complaining negative self and driving me up the fucking wall. She decided she wanted to go home since she thought we had plenty of people and tried to convince me that it was good learning for me to do her job for her instead of helping out where I had already been assigned. When Stupidvisor told her she couldn't just leave because she wanted to, all of a sudden she "wasn't feeling well." Then she had the nerve to complain about the up-and-coming change in the absenteeism policy which says that any absence or early departure that is not pre-approved counts against your attendance record.
What. The fuck. Ever. The policy is kind of dumb and is one more reason why I hate it here (people are already leaving and threatening to leave, let's crack down a little more on whoever's left!). But Instigator failed to see that her fairly frequent decisions to leave early are the reason we have the policy in the first place! She's part of the problem!
I fucking hate this place. This company can go suck a cock. Instigator can go eat shit and die.
The resume. Must get on the resume.

what a huge corck of shit. ugh!
*hugs*
Yup, they're all that way. Corporate middle-management is the resting place for ignorant, insecure, shit-for-brains people who think they know what's best for everyone else. When you get that resume polished up, RUN, do *not* walk to another job interview.
Good luck.
Suckage.
Mofos.
Why the hell did they wait so damned long to question you if they thought you'd been drinking on the job? I mean, how catty and unprofessional is that?
F*ckers!
sounds like somebody's feeding you a load of shit. kick your stupidvisor in the crotch ... that'll show them!
Resume. Yes. Both of us. And we shall gnaw the bones of those who have wronged us!
You know, one day.
Have you looked into temp agencies? I mean, its not like you're without skills, and you could just quit that stupid freaking company. Yeah, you might not have the greatest fallback position, but you do not need this shit. I'd walk.
Aw, shit. Start looking, and *fast*.
Oh, they're just HANDING you reasons to leave! Bastards! It amazes me how many companies are willing to waste talented people -- no wonder they're always understaffed. You're too good for them!
Ain't that some shit. He couldn't even give you some examples this "source" gave that made them think you had been drinking? What shit.
And have you seen that commercial where the guy comes into his meeting 20 minutes late and he's like, "Sorry I was late. I had an interview. It went pretty well." It's funny.
