Audrey Heller Photography
I saw Audrey Heller's booth at the Ann Arbor Art Fair last summer. I really liked her photography, which is unusual for me because I don't generally like other people's photography. I couldn't afford anything at the time so I signed up on her mailing list. Here's how Audrey describes her motivation:
I think of these photos as a melding of the influences of Dr. Seuss and Edward Weston. When I was little(er) I fixed on the fantasy that we were living on a dust speck in a giant world. That idea is exciting and terrifying. Exciting because it means that there is so much more to learn than we can even conceive of, and terrifying because we could be squashed at any moment. I try to be like Horton, the elephant who found a world in a dust speck, and pay attention to the small worlds around me.
Take a peek at her work. It's pretty nifty. Here are some of my favorites:
(as Buzz would say, click to embiggen)

I can't afford anything right now, either, but someday I'd really like to buy something of hers. She's got some holiday specials going on right now, if you find yourself so inclined.

I love art like this.
Those are great! I have found some of the coolest things from your site.
Hehe - embiggen. Heh.
Glad you like! I stood in her both for a good 30 minutes and I probably would have coughed up for a print if I could have picked just one that I really wanted.
