Think Before You Speak

Do you ever find your lips moving before your brain, and saying something in a polite exchange that doesn't exactly follow what the other person just said? Like you expect them to give the standard reply, and you respond accordingly, only to realize too late that you sound like an idiot because you didn't listen to them. Case in point, at the entrance station to the Badlands today, the lady manning the station said something about enjoying my visit, and I was expecting her to say something about having a nice day, so I responded with, "you too" only to realize that she probably wouldn't be visiting because she works there (but I was also distracted because she was gorgeous). I do that kind of thing all the time, though.
