Dreamhost Supports the Ada Initiative

I’ve hosted all my sites at Dreamhost for years. I’m very pleased to read the following in their monthly newsletter:

First, a quick refresher on humans:

  • Women are good.
  • Women are every bit as good as men.
  • Aside from some superficial physical differences, both sexes are equal – particularly in the workplace!

So it’s weird that whenever we need to hire anyone for anything tech-related, the ratio of applicants is literally TEN men to every one woman.

Participation in open-source projects in particular is predominantly male and there’s just no good reason for that.

The Ada Initiative exists to change this sad state of affairs.

The Ada Initiative

“The Ada Initiative is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing participation of women in open technology and culture.”

We’re proud to announce that we’re an angel investor in The Ada Initiative.

The Ada Initiative’s namesake is Ada Lovelace, widely recognized as the world’s first computer programmer who, as it turns out, just happened to be a lady.

My fuzzy, it is warm.
