holding people’s dreams in your hands

There’s a nifty little contest going on called Ideas Happen.

Ideas Happen gives 18-29 year olds an opportunity to launch an idea by pitching it to win $25,000. Entrants pitch by submitting a short essay and may submit an optional video or jpeg of their idea.

Four winners will be chosen in each of three categories – entrepreneur, community, and self expression. Ideas might range from making a film or starting a community-based organization to launching a business or taking a dream trip around the world.

At this site, you can submit an idea, view others’ ideas, and on June 9th, after finalists have been determined, ultimately vote for the winners. The site also offers advice and tips on getting ideas off the ground, as well as background information on our expert panelists.

You can currently view the daily Top 10 and decide if you’re “feelin’ it” or “not feelin’ it” (I’m not sure what impact this has on the competition, but they’re at least interesting to watch). I don’t think I’ll be entering the competition since I neither have great ideas nor am I persuasive, but it’s kinda fun to think about what my entry might be if I were so inclined.
