U.K.: Law Proposed to Accommodate a Gay King or Queen

The proposed law and a key amendment basically recognize as heir any royal offspring bearing DNA from the line of succession (however conceived) and designates a title for the king or queen’s same-sex partner. It also changes succession rules to apply to the first-born, regardless of gender. Assuming the law goes into effect in the near future, the first-born rule would apply to William and Kate’s forthcoming child.
