Money Talk

Suze Orman was on The View today. Did you know that you can go to myfico.com and find out all kinds of interesting information (inclucing your FICO score)? It looks to be slow- or non-loading, and you have to pay to actually get that FICO score (and credit report, etc.). But I bet it could be cool.

Suze said that if you have a credit card that’s been open forever, you should keep it open even if you don’t use it, because by closing that account you’re removing part of your credit history, which is an important part of your FICO score. I never really thought of it that way, because it seems to me like another credit card open is adding to your debt potential, which can hurt you. I guess it’s a balancing act. Having one card open for a long time is better than having many cards open for a short time.
