I’m so irritated. I alternatively love and hate my computer. So, after receiving my baby back from Apple, it seems to be working just fine, except that it now takes about 5 seconds to wake up from Sleep vs. the 1 second it took before. But now I have two problems:
1. I don’t seem to be able to connect to the internet. Since my folks are not coughing up for a router, getting on the internet before consisted of unplugging the ethernet cable from the PC, plugging it into my iBook, and using my trusty PPPoE thingy to supply the Covad login info, I simply select “connect” and it does. Well now it doesn’t. I suspect it might be related to my configuring the iBook to access my friends’ wireless network. But I’ve shut off every AirPort related thingy, and I still can’t connect via ethernet.
2. I have leftover DVDs that I need to watch (one before Saturday, two before Monday). The folks have no DVD player, so I planned to watch them on my computer (which I’ve done as recently as three weeks ago, before it crashed and burned). Last night I drop the DVD in and DVD Player starts up and I’m looking at a black screen. No error messages. The control panel says it’s playing. All of a sudden I’m hearing stuff. There’s sound, but no video. If I look real hard, I can see the black letterbox stripes and a dark-green-ish blob in the middle. I try the two other DVDs I have, and the same thing happens. Suck! I will be hella mad (insert mental playing of Cartman saying “I’m hella mad!”) if I have to return these damn DVDs and don’t get to watch them.
Christ. If anyone has suggestions, I’d be happy to hear them.
