I’m attending the National Conference on Media Reform here in Minneapolis this weekend.
There was so much content crammed into this weekend. It was good to have 90-minute sessions so you could really dig into a topic, but that also meant there were a lot of panels going on at a time.
Here’s what I was interested in that I had to skip:
- Minnesota Model: Countering Corporate Media I’ve heard most of it before, but I wanted to see the hometown folks represent.
- Precious Places, Public Platforms: Strategic Uses of Community Technology Actual examples of new and different stuff that works!
- Media Ownership Fight: Where It’s at and What’s Next One of the biggest takeaways I got out of this conference is just how much influence on media ownership the FCC’s policies have.
- Purple Politics: Coverage of LGBT Issues in the Media I caught part of it, but I missed a lot.
- New Media, New Models, New Journalism
- Newspapers: Not Dead Yet? Although I’m kind of tired of having this discussion.
- Organizing for Change on the Social Web Mainly because I heard good Tweets about it and because Ruby Sinreich, whom I met at the Journalism that Matters conference preceding this one, was on it.
There’s video already to be seen, and more audio and video on the way. Everyone should be able to catch up on what they missed, whether you were here in Minneapolis or not.
