Cumb Dunt of the Week

So, I’m going to St. Thomas, USVI this weekend for my friends’ wedding. A month ago I talked to the travel agent they set up about getting a room (I’m sharing with my other friend, the bride’s younger sister). I spoke to her on the phone and put a fat check in the mail, per her instructions. I also gave her all the pertinent contact information. She had my email, and I gave her my phone number and address.

I get a message today from my bride-to-be friend saying the travel agent told here there’s a problem with my check and some other stuff and I should call her ASAP. This is followed by a message from the travel agent saying all the documents she sent me just got returned in the mail.

For starters, my check did not bounce. They cashed that shit and it cleared with the quickness. And even if it had, why is the travel agent telling my friend that?

Secondly, I KNOW I gave her my address. She had my phone number. I’m pretty damn sure I gave her my address right along with it. She used the address on my check which is way out of date. Why she didn’t use the address I GAVE HER or even the return address on the envelope I mailed the check in, I have no idea. Or how about maybe you call for some fucking confirmation?

So now I have to truck my ass to Kinko’s and shell another $5 out of pocket to pick up the goddamn fax. And all she’s gonna send is the airport transfer vouchers. Not even the hotel confirmation. Since “[your friend] will already be checked in, so you can just use the house phone to call her when you get there.”

I’m sorry, what? WTF?!

I’ll see what arrives in the fax before I get too mad about that last part.

I tried googling this travel agent and a bunch of adult friend finder type stuff came up. Coincidence…?

    We’re here. Along the same line: 1st – 3rd floors have high speed Internet (the reason we’re at this place and not with everyone else) but we’ve got you on the 7th floor. (Silly me, I thought the agent had specfically made arragements gauranteeing us on floor 1-3 — whoops!) Oh, and it’s $20/day extra for the Internet connection. Did we say 5 star hotel? They must have a different system down here. We’ll see you very soon!

    I moved ‘em. Just cuz I’m anal.

    My fax included two vouchers for airport transfers and two vouchers for my hotel stay (one for the two nights I’m sharing, and one for the two nights I have a single).

    I’m still not thrilled, but I’m getting on the plane anyway.
