I Feel Techno-Savvy

I learned how to forward ports on my router. Now all my BitTorrents have happy little green faces next to them instead of being stuck on uncomfortable-looking yellow faces. Except nothing’s downloading any faster. But they’re happy! And green!

I have never had the least bit of luck with BitTorrent. I think it hates me.

Come to think of it, my router hates me, too.

Yeah, port-forwarding is the shiznit. It’s how I run my webserver from home, use VNC to check things from the road, and still use BitTorrent, all off one little cable modem.

    Okay, Keith. Ya lost me.

I run my own web server at home. I run BitTorrent on my desktop system. And I can connect to any of my home systems (four of ‘em, actually) when I’m travelling on the road, using VNC software. Without port-forwarding on my router, I wouldn’t be able to do any of this stuff. So, it’s really some neat feature.
