Sunday Surfing

It seems lately the only time I spend watching random television is on Sundays. It’s almost always sports. If not sports, it’s TLC. Today it’s a lot of tennis and then some b-ball-watching on the internet.

I’ve been digging the U.S. Open Series. This is the second year they’ve done this. It’s sort of like playoffs. Lindsay Davenport has won three tournaments in three weeks. This week’s Tennis Masters Canada final has Andy Roddick playing Roger Federer. Andy vs Roger is always a great match. They’ve been pimping this learn to play tennis message so much, I’m almost tempted to go sign up.

Meanwhile, World Teamtennis is on. A little different format, a little looser, a little rowdier, a little Martina Navratilova. Interesting.

Quote of the Day goes to John Wertheim of Sports Illustrated:

Speaking of tennis, you haven’t experienced pain until you’ve watched an episode of John McEnroe’s show on CNBC. Magic Johnson looks like Terry Gross by comparison….

Heh!

In their last WNBA game before the Olympic break, my two favorite teams are playing each other. Dang, I wish this one was on tv. I can’t even decide who I want to win. Minnesota needs to keep up their momentum as much as possible, but Detroit just needs another win, period. I’ll be happy either way.

And I’m digesting this bit o’ scandal. Lawdy.

To truly follow the WNBA, you need NBA TV, Oxygen, and ESPN2.

Mystics vs. Mercury on Oh! yesterday, followed by the Lynx and Detroit on NBA TV (a very ugly game, by the way. You really had to see it to believe that the Lynx actually won it).

The game at Radio City is on Thursday, and then the long drought.
