Common Scents

Cologne/perfume: What all do you have? What’s your favorite (for yourself or others)?

On my bathroom counter is Gap Dream, Gap Om, CK One, Tommy Girl, and Healing Garden Waters’ Pure Joy.

I don’t usually wear perfume, though I did decide to femme it up for my gal when I visited her in March, so I picked up the same fragrance I’d worn in high school. It’s Healing Gardens, and I don’t know what it’s called, maybe harmony, but it’s the green one, and it smells of sandlewood. One of my all-time faves is Inis. It’s an Irish cologne for both sexes, and it’s absolutely nummy. :)

I don’t own any perfume. If you don’t like the scent of my deoderant, you’re outta luck.

At the moment I’ve got three bottles of perfume I picked up in Paris last year — Chantal Thomas [which is sort of an adult version -and way less smelly- of Love's Baby Soft], Absolu, and Dior Addict. I also have a small spritzer of Green Tomato by Demeter.

I don’t wear perfume. Gave it up about five years ago when I was preggers with my youngest. The smell of everything made me want to vomit. Most things, like deoderant, are back in my life but I’ve never been able to like perfume again.

We have a few in our house:

Curve, Hugo for Men, Skin, and CK Contradiction. There are more that I like, bit friggin refuse to pay outrageos prices for the stuff.

call me unsophisticated, but i think nothing beats the smell of plain ole irish spring on a man. :)

    LOL at JenBen.

I still HATE the smell of deoderant. The idea that it is unscented is BULLSHIT. Bullshit I tell you! Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit.

Deoderant makes me gag but the smell of stanky sweaty pits is worse so I pick the lesser of the two evils on that one.

    Deo is evil.

i wear/ have worn a number of different perfumes. i don’t tell people my scents. something i learned from my mom, but as u can’t smell me, what the hell. i have a few perfumes that i had made for me. 2 from bourbon french perfumes in nawlins and 3 off of reflect.com. my 3 primaries are isey miyake, lavendar rain (from bourbon french), and aparition (from reflect). i named the last 2 of course.

i have a magnolia candle from nawlins that i love. its the first (and last) scented candle i’ve bought that smells how is should when lit and when not. i have a lot of candles. scents are primarily magnolia and jasmine. i also have jas scented linen spray. mag. scented potpourri. i have a delicious pear lotion. oh i have a lot of scents. lol. i hope i don’t smell.

Ooh, I loves the pear. I had some sort of something or other from Victoria that was pear-scented and I LOVED it. I can’t find it, so it must be gone now.

Half the reason I asked this question was because I put the Tommy Girl on today. I usually save it for winter time, as it seems a little heavier to me. I keep smelling myself and it’s all different and stuff.

My usual for a long time was L’Occitane’s Vervaine (verbena), which has a great light citrusy smell. I have pretty much all the other verbena crap they make, too, heh.

I finished my last bottle of that a month or so ago and decided to try something new for summer, just for the hell of it. I loved the perfume this waitress was wearing and ended up buying some of that: Carolina Herrera’s 212, which is a little pricey, so I only use it on special occasions. And when I was back at L’Occitane last week, they convinced me to try a travel size of their Mimosa perfume. Very very nice.

I’ve been going between Baby Grace by Philosophy (which, unfortunately, doesn’t last long after applied), Ginger Essence by Origins (get lots of compliments on this one), and White Musk by The Body Shop (my old standby since high school).

I’ve decided that I also like wearing that baby oil in lotion form from Johnson & Johnson.

For going out.. Michael Kors. For work… Adidas Fresh. Any other time…Aroma Tonic From Lancome. Please do not buy HG Pure Joy when you run out. I work for the company that makes it and I will send you some gratis! :)

My two personal favorites for myself are Dior Addict (for fall/winter) and Il Bacio. I also mix it up between Ralph, a couple VS scents, CK One and lately have been wearing Philosophy’s Falling in Love, which reminds me of cotton candy but doesn’t last long at all. My boy has been using Kenneth Cole Black, but smells luscious either way :9.

I have Eternity for Men and Xeryous. Rarely use either though.

Perfume gives me a headache. I literally have to hold my breath going through the fragrance section of Filene’s. However, I do wear body spray. I like Warm Vanilla Sugar (Bath & Body Works) or Heaven (Gap). I also get headaches when other people wear most perfumes. Particularly the disgusting scent of Elizabeth Taylor’s “Passion” that my mother daubed on for years until I introduced her to the wonder of body spray. Dad thanks me, too.

On a guy, though, I like Abercrombie Woods. And I like the scent of Old Spice. I know it probably smells like peoples’ grandpas, but it reminds me of some sort of safe feeling from my childhood because my dad used to wear it. Let me stress that it’s not a sexy scent, just comforting.

I’ve been wearing either Lavender from The Thymes or Sexy by BCBG.
