We’re Having Weather

I got up at about 5:20, thinking I’d have a little time to make something for dinner and surf before the Survivor finale came on. I looked outside and thought, “Man, it is still! Eerily still….” And then I realized that the emergency weather sirens were on. I know it’s not monthly testing time.

They’ve been forecasting rain around here for a week and we have seen nary a drop. I walked away from the sliding door to the deck and into the kitchen and proceeded to make a few hamburger patties. I turned back around not ten minutes later to see the tree branches waving violently in the wind. A few minutes after that the patter of the rain hit the roof. It’s a smidge less windy and a smidge less rainy now, but it’s also still 86° out.

As long as my power doesn’t go out and I can’t watch Survivor, I don’t care.

UPDATE AT 6:30: Okay, that passed over in about 20 minutes and it’s now 20 degrees cooler. Apparently in other parts of the metro there was hail and swirly clouds. I still have my power. *whew*

what do you call it when it isn’t still and the sirens aren’t blasting? atmosphere? i dunno but your title struck me as funny.

i hope your power stays on cuz to lose it after watching a competiton for an entire season would be horrible. if i had a tape, i’d tape it for u just in case.

Girl, you are so lucky! There were actually touchdowns in several parts of the metro!! Dork! Don’t you know you are supposed to head for the basement when those sirens go off?!?!?

Really? I should probably have turned the news on.

I was in the basement for most of it, actually. All the doorways down there face the walkout patio door, so that would have been out. My room and the den are down there. I would have been hunkered down between the washer and dryer if I thought something was gonna happen. Or maybe in the shower. ;)
