Seriously. Even if I did give them the benefit of the doubt where their “beliefs” are concerned, I really don’t get why it’s so important to so actively oppose civil liberties and equal opportunity and protection for gay people.
Jerks.
I’m glad that what’s happening in New York and in Oregon is at least catching people’s attention. The actions of citizens are forcing the government to do something about it.
Note that it’s the state governments handling it, as it should be. The Senate has other more important things to be worrying about. (And Russ Feingold makes me want to move to Wisconsin.) (Except for that proposed gay marriage ban, even though we already have one in Minne-scro-ta.) (Oh, and it’s Wisconsin.)
You know, you can bitch and moan about activist judges and city and county officials. Everyone participating knows this is largely symbolic. It’s a way to show just how many people are affected. A way to put a human face on the issue. A way to prove that we won’t roll over and shut up.
We have your attention, don’t we? Good.
