Somebody stop me!

I am so on a roll. I haven’t accomplished half of the things on my list below, but I have been on a cleaning frenzy. A much needed cleaning frenzy.

I (mostly) cleaned the kitchen. Emptied and reloaded the dishwasher. Wiped down the counters. Got all my groceries stashed. Took the garbage and recycling out.

I cleaned up the laundry room a little. The top of the washer and dryer were sticky with laundry detergent, so I wiped those down. I don’t think I got all the soap off. That’s tough to do when you’ve only got a sponge and water to work with. You just get suds with each swipe. And the washer has one unstable leg, so it shimmies all around during the spin cycle. Scootched it and the dryer up onto a more level part of the floor and braced them against each other. Washed three loads. Waiting for roomie to empty the dryer.

Went through my piles and piles of mail and magazines. Dumped a bunch into the recycling bin. Still have to go through my “read later” pile and likely dump a whole bunch of the magazines. I wish I could just cut some of them off and get my money back for the remainder of the subscription. I don’t even know how I started getting half of them.

Stashed some of my boxes that have been sitting in the den. They’re mostly full of souvenir-type things that maybe one day I’ll get around to scrapbooking compiling in a presentable fashion. I still have some empty boxes sitting out that are full of packing paper. I might burn it all out in the driveway, just for kicks. I still need to take care of my “eBay or give away” boxes and a bunch of packaged “things to hang on the wall” that don’t fit nicely in the understairs storage.

My bathroom needs to be cleaned, but I don’t think I have enough left in me for that one. Also need to vacuum and tidy up the shoe pile by the door. For now I’m gonna put stuff in the dryer and then finish plowing through this useless television.

Sprinkle a little baking soda on that sticky-icky-icky-ooh-wee! washing machine and let it absorb the sudsiness. Wipe off with sponge. Repeat. If that don’t work, invite a friend over to do their laundry and make them clean it.

Ooh, thanks for the tip. I’ll have to try it. Actually, I’ll have to see if we have any baking soda first.
