Mobile Number Portability

In case you’re itching to ditch your current wireless carrier, don’t forget that Mobile Number Portability went into effect in the 100 largest metropolitan areas yesterday. You are also now able to port your landline to a mobile number. The report I heard on NPR said that people are saying “the media” has been telling them to wait a couple weeks for the carriers to get the kinks out. I haven’t watched a whole lot of tv lately, but I haven’t heard a peep about this in the media.

If you’re looking to switch, you can shop by plan, phone, or carrier at WireFly and at NumberPortability.com. The latter will also tell you if your number is even portable in the first place.
