I was listening to Talk of the Nation* yesterday and lo and behold, the subject was urban tribes. Even more exciting, one of the guests was Ethan Watters.
I’ve mentioned this before and I’m kind of excited to see Ethan** get some publicity since I’ve been sort of following his progress.
I think the segment could have been better than it was. Frances Goldscheider, a sociology professor at Brown University, was a little blah***. And then when they got to Ethan, the calls were getting a little out of hand. And I thought they had some dumb callers. But it’s still worth a listen, especially if you would like to learn a little about the concept (think Friends before everybody got married).
